Take a glance to your left on this blog for a new feature:
Recent Comments. Publishing a list of recent comments gives visitors a glance into what people find interesting on the site. Clicking the link within the recent comments will take you directly to the that author's comment.
There is more than one popular way to publish recent comments. Here are quick descriptions of a few:
1. Publish the commenter's name with link to the comment (what we're doing today).
2. Same as #1, but link the commenter's name to their website URL.
3. Link the commenter's name directly to their comment, and the corresponding post title to the start of the post.
I dismissed #2 because I want people to navigate through this site for at least a click or two before clicking away. However, #3 is an interesting option since it takes visitors to two distinct locations on the appropriate page of the site.
What do you think? Do you have a preference for recent comments layouts on blogs? What layout do you use and why?
By the way, you can also track the most recent comments published on this site using your favorite RSS reader. Check the Comments Syndication options on our
