Feedburner Subscriber Numbers Jump Through the Roof Thanks to NetVibes
We've been hovering around 400 subscribers to Technology Evangelist over the past week or two, so imagine my surprise to see Feedburner reporting 51,225 subscribers today. Quite a jump overnight. Here's what it looks like in our Feedburner Feed Stats Dashboard. I moused over the now minuscule bar from May 22nd to put things in perspective:
Any idea what's causing this? While I'd like to believe that we picked up more than 50,000 subscribers in one day, it looks like a change at Netvibes had more to do with it. Here is a breakdown of how our subscribers are subscribing to our site:
I think we've identified the lurking variable and it's called
Netvibes.
Ed.
We'd love it, too if you guys picked up 50K subscribers over night! With all the good stuff you guys publish, it's only a matter of time until you get there...(that...or IE7!)
Yes, this was a Netvibes bug that's been fixed; tonight's stats roll-up will reflect accurate numbers as Netvibes is now reflecting more accurate numbers. You'll see the results by tomorrow morning, and always feel free to check out forums or email our support team (at feedback@feedburner.com) if you have any questions in the future.
Thanks for stopping by, guys. And nice job both resolving the issue and communicating with your users both on blogs and your forum.

Mine's at 51,017. Looks like everyone is getting a 50,866 subscription boost.
