Feedburner Acquires BlogBeat.net
The popular RSS tracking company, Feedburner, has opened the checkbook and expanded their analytics reach to blogs with the purchase of Blogbeat.net:
FeedBurner buys BlogBeat, expanding blog analysis - Yahoo! News
FeedBurner.com, which syndicates Web postings for 200,000 publishers, said it has acquired blog analytics company BlogBeat.net for undisclosed terms.
FeedBurner manages managing headline syndication services and operates a growing Web site advertising network. The deal will allow the company to provide publishers with tools to better understand what headline feeds blog site visitors are reading.
Feedburner has quickly become the defacto standard for RSS analytics (allows you to track how many people are reading your blog using RSS readers like Bloglines, My.Yahoo, NewsGator, etc.) so they have a dashboard of compelling data for bloggers using their service today. Perhaps Feedburner readers will find a 1-stop shop for blog analytics compelling?
I tested Blogbeat.net a few months ago on this blog and wasn't blown away by the service. However, that's as much a reflection of my personal preference as an analysis of Blogbeat's service, and any web service can improve significantly in a short time with a few good developers and a fresh infusion of cash.
