Participatory Culture Launches New Internet Video Sites
Participatory Culture, creators of the popular Democracy video feed reader and player, have come out with a new video feature that should make it easier to find great new video content. The new service called The Channel Channel, is just that: a Democracy TV channel offering previews of the hundreds of TV channels available through Democracy. Content creators are asked to produce a one minute sample / preview of their channel for The Channel Channel. Here is PC's explanation:
"The Channel Channel shows previews of internet TV channels. If you see a channel that looks interesting, subscribe to it with a program like Democracy Player. When you subscribe, you'll automatically get new videos from that channel as soon as they are published." Ben has
written previously about the great things going on at Participatory Culture revolving around the Democracy Player. Today, Ben and I had a chance to visit Participatory Culture's headquarters in Worcester, MA to learn about what makes this revolutionary non-profit online media company tick. We'll have more on that meeting soon.
PC also launches an onine video promotion site explaining 10 Ways to Promote an Internet TV Channel. It's a great list of tips. However, be sure you understand each distribution channel and bandwidth costs associated with each before getting stuck with an unexpected bandwidth charge or suspended hosting account.
