Yahoo and CBS Start Syndicating Local News Stories Nationally
Yahoo's syndication of local news to an national - actually international - market should help make the world smaller. While we've been able to track news of interest to us from local papers across the country and world for some time using sites like Yahoo News, Google News, and Topix, this is the first time we've had each access to video content created in local markets.

"The 16 CBS O&Os have made a deal to syndicate 10 to 20 local news clips to Yahoo on a daily basis. The clips will appear on the Yahoo News local pages in each of the 16 markets, and CBS and Yahoo will share the associated ad revenue."
I think this will be big with news junkies out on the long tail. People following news stories on things like distance running, graffiti removal, and cross country skiing are generally hard pressed finding regular content in their own market yet there's surely someone reporting on things like this in some market at any time, right?
James, this post is almost 2 years old.
