How to get a techie's money: GO MOBILE!
Benjamin J. Higginbotham
Until recently I used Enom for all of my personal domains. I am in the process of moving everything to GoDaddy.com. Why would I do this? Price? Features? Performance? Nope, Go Daddy has a mobile site that I can use to look up and purchase domains from my Treo smartphone.

On the road I come up with some pretty interesting domain names. The latest of which are bendroppings.com and bengasm.com (I have not decided which I want to use for my personal blog yet.) With other providers I'm forced to log into their full web interface, wait for the full page to download over EVDO, search for a domain, and I *may* be able to purchase from the road. By using GoDaddyMobile.com I can not only look up domains but I can also purchase them from wherever I have Internet access on my phone. The page is optimized for mobile devices so it's extremely easy to grab that perfect domain: bengasm.com.

Not everyone has a phone capable of mobile access, but most techies do. If these companies want quicker and easier access to my money all they need to do is create a mobile version of their site optimized for smartphones. I've moved my domains to Go Daddy and I'm willing to move other purchases there too. Amazon mobile, bring it on. Geico mobile? Awesome. Best Buy mobile? Watch out wallet! The ultimate mobile site would be Costco, I'm pretty sure I would go broke in a day. Of course the best mobile web page would be technologyevangelist.com (oh wait, it is mobile.)

Amazon is already available for small screen devices:

Or you can find the full list of Amazon mobile sites here (US/UK/Germany/France/Canada):

How much money did GoDaddy pay you for this recommendation?

I wish they had given me any money, but GoDaddy doesn't even sponsor ads on this site. We got zip, zilch, nada from them.

It's be nice if they would cover my ever growing Bengasm.com costs.

Interesting. I went to godaddymobile.com on my Treo 650, since I have a lot of domains at GoDaddy. I searched for and selected a new domain as a test, then logged in. The server grabbed my account info and filled in all of the fields already. So I tried to "continue" and got an error message saying that state/country wasn't correct. Yet, they filled in CA for Canada. But there are no other choices. So I can't even use the mobile version.
