CES - Kevin Vander Vliet, Dopi Karaoke
Technology Evangelist Team

Dopi Karaoke has karaoke files for iPods and other portable video devices. These are videos that give both the music and the text of the song. Benjamin and Ed were seen dancing in the vicinity of this booth, but to see that you will have to wait for the CES outtakes video.

Full Transcript:

Kevin Vander Vliet: My name is Kevin Vander Vliet, I am the CEO of DoPi Karaoke.

Benjamin Higginbotham: And what is DoPi Karaoke?

Kevin Vander Vliet: DoPi Karaoke is basically bringing Karaoke to any video iPod or any video mp3 player.

Benjamin Higginbotham: How do you do that?

Kevin Vander Vliet: Well you will be able to go to our website www.dopikaraoke.com. Instead of downloading mp3 files, you will go ahead and you will download mp4 files. So, you have the video text that comes with it and it’s all synchronized. Its all karaoke tracks, supplied by us by sound choice, which is the one of the leaders has been for 25 years in karaoke music content.

Benjamin Higginbotham: If so, I have got this video file. In the video file is the text of what you are say…

Kevin Vander Vliet: Correct.

Benjamin Higginbotham: And I can play this back on, like you said the video iPod, PSP, or any other mp4 player…

Kevin Vander Vliet: Even your computer.

Benjamin Higginbotham: Your computer, what not?

Kevin Vander Vliet: Right.

Benjamin Higginbotham: Alright and then I want to sing along, how would I do that?

Kevin Vander Vliet: Well the first thing you got to get ready for the night, right.

Benjamin Higginbotham: Oh absolutely.

Kevin Vander Vliet: So the practice method is to go ahead and I think right here you can see that we’ve got a video iPod playing, you can go ahead and just put your head phone jack in there and you can practice and see all the lyrics come on the screen of the actual iPod, right. Now, that’s the one way just with the music content. Now, what you can do is, you can actually get the DoPi Karaoke unit, it’s about $59 and you go ahead and you hook it all together with any television or stereo or whatnot. Now, you got a full-fledged karaoke party.

Benjamin Higginbotham: Now, we’ve been having fun little behind the scene take, this is actually the third time we got to shoot this.

Kevin Vander Vliet: Yes.

Benjamin Higginbotham: Because, we always have someone walking and singing and we always crack up laughing.

Kevin Vander Vliet: Yeah.

Benjamin Higginbotham: So, it seems like a fun thing to have at party, because we can't even shoot a video segment with out laughing, you got to be able to do, you got to have some fun with this …

Kevin Vander Vliet: You know best thing about karaoke, I’ll be honest, I don’t sing in public, but to be able to have the unit and to be able to be at home with some of your friends all it takes is one person to start and then its over.

Benjamin Higginbotham: Everyone has that one person in their group of friends, that will start.

Kevin Vander Vliet: Somebody will start, whether they are good or bad, but the great thing about our product is, let’s say  John doesn’t want to participate, because he only wants to sing to a certain song that he loves. He can go to the website, in a minute and half, you can download the track. Put it on the iPod, go right back to the television turn it on and now he has no excuse to sing. So, “oh god”.

Benjamin Higginbotham: How much is that gonna cost him ?

Kevin Vander Vliet: Well its $59.99.

Benjamin Higginbotham: For the track?

Kevin Vander Vliet: Yeah, the music tracks, the mp4 which is the video are $1.99 and then there are also mp3 is on there, so if you already know the lyrics, to your favorite song or you want to do something else with the music, they are $0.99.

Benjamin Higginbotham: Those compare with the iTunes music store, $1 for the song and $2 for a video.

Kevin Vander Vliet: Yeah, that’s it.
