Daily Audio Netcast - Why we call it a Netcast vs a Podcast, and what should you call it?
Benjamin J. Higginbotham
Welcome to show #0002. In this show Cariann and I take a look at the terms Podcasting and Netcasting while I explain why I prefer Netcasting. Links to associated media after the jump.

I have added the shows to our exsisting MP3 RSS file. For those in iTunes you can subscribe to this channel by clicking here. If you would like to use a different player, you may copy the RSS location from here or go to our subscriptions page for more options. We're trying to figure out the best logistics for RSS and these shows, so bear with me as we figure this out. There's going to be a lot of content and we want to make sure we get the RSS feed done right the first time.

I'm still trying to find our voice and see what format works best. Comments and suggestions as to what you like and dislike are welcome. E-mail me at benjaminhigginbotham@technologyevangelist.com or Skype me at benjaminhigginbotham.

Personally I like AudioCast and VideoCast....Audio NetCast is too long as well as Video NetCast.....Audio and Video are different and should not be lumped together under the term Podcast, as is done in iTunes. I think Microsoft wants to use the term BlogCast, whatever that is.

I suppose it is a distinction that I never really worried too much about. Leo had for about 10 weeks stuck to his guns on calling it a NetCast, but now he and the rest of the Twit's are back into the groove and ease of calling it a PodCast.

As for video, I'm a big fan of VidCast -- at least this is what I've been calling it since I first heard about the medium.

Do I feel that it is a huge debate worth fighting? Not Really. But will over time the use of a term sway public opinion? Maybe.
