Netgear Entertainer HD
Originally uploaded by technologyevangelistcom.
We're live at the Netgear press conference at the Marco Poloo Conference Room at The Venetian.
The Netgear Entertainer HD pushes HD (and non-HD) content to computers throughout your home. This includes HD downloaded through Bitorrent.
It can also bring YouTube and other online streaming media directly to your HDTVs.
Music: access your iTunes library from your TV.
PC access: not just one, but all networked computers in your home.
Follow-me feature allows you to pause one TV and pick up where you left off at a TV in another room. Great for end of the day transition to bedroom.
Party mode: Sync content (video and/or music) on all TVs in your home.
Record TV shows using programming guide.
The goal is to bring all content (recoeded and paceshifted) to all TVs and any time.

Absolutely. When questioned about that in the press conference the Netgear guys didn't want to talk about it (as iTV is an unreleased product).
This box was cool because it had neat features such as linking to TV tuners in PCs, shifting from one room to another and having the content follow you, and a slew of HD CODEC support including MPEG 4, MPEG 4 AVC, MPEG 2 HD and VC1.
I think this could give Apple's iTV a run for its money, but I also think Apple has a lot of marketing dollars. Dunno... Not sure what's going to happen in this space, but it's cool.
So begins the war for the living room.

Ben, how do you feel about this being in competition with TiVo? Or are they not quite in the same realm?
