Sony BRAVIA Internet Link Online Video Box
This new box from Sony allows you to stream "all the fun of Internet video, straight to your TV." That is, if "all the fun" is on AOL Video, Yahoo Video, or Sony's Grouper video service.
There are no service fees associated with accessing online video content beyond the broadband Internet connection you're already paying for.
Consistent formatting and content control are the reasons given for restricting the content. If someone created a similar box that gave consumers control over what content they could access, guess which one would win?
