Central Standard Tech's OPML File
Minneapolis techie,
Peter Fleck wrote in asking why I didn't mention where I got the OPML* file I mentioned in my "
5 Thoughts on Tech Consultant Blogs" post the other day. It's a great question without a great answer. I simply forgot and appreciate that Peter pointed this out.
The OPML file came from
Central Standard Tech, which is a site that aggregates tech blogs based in the Minneapolis area. Here's how they describe it:
About Central Standard Tech Central Standard Tech was started September 2006 by Luke Francl as a resource for the Minnesota technology community. Our goal is to get developers, designers, testers, recruiters, entrepreneurs, VCs, and other members of the tech community talking to each other.
The events calendar highlights user group meetings, professional events, and general tech get-togethers like MinneBar and the Twin Cities Code Camp.
The blog aggregator keeps you up to date with the pulse of the community. It is presented in "river of news" style, so you know the new stuff is at the top, and you can easily scroll past an article that doesn't interest you.
It's a great resource for those interested in the Minneapolis tech scene. If something like this doesn't exist in your town, be the person who makes it happen.
Thanks to Central Standard Tech for the work they've done compiling the OPML file, and to Peter Fleck for the reminder email.
* OPML defined: An OPML file is a "Feed of Feeds" or a reading list. It's a text file containing the RSS feed URLs of a group of websites. An OPML file can be imported into an RSS reader like Google Reader or Bloglines, automatically subscribing you to all of the blogs contained within the feed.

Hey, thanks for the plug. I've added your feed to the list!
