Ed Learns Video 101 Episode 1
Benjamin J. Higginbotham

Today we start a new feature on Technology Evangelist, Ed Learns Video 101. In the course of our everyday lives we have seen a lot of video on the Internet, and unfortunately a lot of it is not done very well. These videos will be going over some basic video concepts to help make the videos out there more professional and less like bad home movies.

Jeremy Elfering: Meet Ed. When Ed started with Technology Evangelist, he knew nothing about video production and we really do mean nothing. We once saw him looking into the lens end of a camera and he couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t seeing a picture, but that was a different time and place. Ed has learned a lot since then. We will be taking a look at the lessons, Ed has learned in our newest featured video on Technology Evangelist. Ed learns video101.

Filo Farnsworth: Ed?!

Ed Kohler: God?

Filo Farnsworth: No Ed, its Filo.

Ed Kohler: Filo?

Filo Farnsworth: Didn’t you forget something today?

Ed Kohler: I don’t know, did I?

Filo Farnsworth: Yes, how about this, will this help your video a little bit?

Ed Kohler: Oh, a tripod!

Jeremy Elfering: Every time you shoot a video you should have a tripod with you. In fact there is rarely a reason why should ever not use a tripod. Is simple things like this that will keep your video’s that notch above your family home movies. Using a tripod is a good first step to Ed’s journey through video 101.

Video 101! Now that is something even your mom can follow. I'll have to follow Ed throughout this course. Maybe I too can learn a thing or two.
