Techie Mother's Day Gifts
It's Mother's Day in the United States (and many other countries around the world) this coming Sunday, May 13th.
If you were to break away from traditional Mother's Day presents like flowers and chocolates and opt for something techie, what would it be?
I'll kick off with this idea: a Flickr Pro Account. My mom has a digital camera, but I rarely get to see any of the pictures she's taking. If she uploaded them to Flickr, she'd, in a sense, have a photo blog.
What would you get for your own mom or suggest for others?
My mother loved the webcam I got her last year as a way for us to keep in touch. I also found a Mother's Day gift ideas site that has some neat techie ideas.
I's try to find the most user friendly camera possible. I don't want to end up being tech support for the life of the product. flickr is a stretch for my mom - but maybe snapfish?

This is a great idea! How come I never thought of this long time ago? My mom is also one of those picture-taking addicts but is lazy going to shops to print the image she took. I’m thinking of a post Mother’s Day treat to her. Maybe I can lend her my digital camera then she can take pictures of everything. Instead of a whole day shopping galore that will really destroy my budget, I’ll give her a take-pictures-til-you-drop. How’s that?

Depends how old she is! I gave my mother her first VCR when she was 79 and she took to it very well. However, I monitor developments in remote patient and social care monitoring technology on my site TelecareAware and at this time of year I frequently see press releases from US companies suggesting that a personal emergency response alarm makes a good Mother's Day present. As a sidenote on our different cultures, I never see this from UK companies.
