LogMeIn moves to the Macintosh
I would normally wait to post this information until after the
Telepresence
World conference, but I'm so excited I just couldn't wait!
LogMeIn.com,
our favorite and by far best remote desktop solutions provider now has a
preview
Macintosh client available! We have been able to view PCs from Mac and
Linux boxes for quite some time, but now we can actually add the Macs and remote
support them too! Keep in mind that this is a preview, so it's pre-beta
even, but at least they're on the right track.
If you're using a competing product such as
WebEx or
GoToMyPC
I would highly suggest checking out
LogMeIn.com.
Not only do they have Macintosh support coming, but they also have a
free
version and many great tools that blow the competition away.
I wonder how hard it would be to adopt this technology to the iPhone so I can
remote support my users in the field? What about hacking this for Apple
TV? This will be uber cool.

Ben, try out Techinline's Remote Desktop solution and you will see how to establish a remote connection really in 20 seconds.
I have looked deeply at LogmeIn, I thought there product was good, but I must admit that Techinline's approach (1,2,3, control) is simple and it works very fast.

Robert, thank you for your suggestion. I took a peek at Techinline's web site and it looked like it had far fewer features than LogMeIn.com at a much higher price. It also didn't appear to support Macintosh or any platform other than Windows at all. Am I missing something, or is there a better version in beta that I can get my hands on?

Ben, yes, Techinline has much less features than LogMeIn Rescue now. But it also has a much lesser price - $20/month. Compare to $129/month of LogMeIn...
Just try it, and you will see the difference. Regarding the features - it is not a problem. Features set is quite limited for such services and I'm sure the guys will add more features soon. What I know definitely is that they are going to leave the price affordable.

I assume you're talking about LogMeIn Rescue which is $99.00 per month per seat annually or $129.00 per month per seat non-contract. The article is about LogMeIn.com's main services such as free, pro and IT Reach and I don't believe it applies to LogMeIn Rescue which is a different product.
LogMeIn Basic is free
LogMeIn Pro is $12.95 per month (allows you to invite others to view desktop)
LogMeIn IT Reach is also $12.95 which is the package I prefer as it allows me to manage an entire data center from one location with ease, even on my Treo 700wx.
I don't have a lot of need for a remote support tool that goes in reverse (as in the client goes to a site and asks for support) I more need remote access to my personal computers, both Mac and PC in a data center, at home and on the road. For my needs Techinline won't do any of that it looks like. From what I can gather Techinline is more of a support desk program not a RDC replacement.
If a better service does come along in the non-managed computer area (meaning I can log in to a machine that has no one sitting at it on both Mac and PC) I would love to see it. I do a lot of remote management and always love to look at new products.
Other than the idea that Techinline is Windows only (booo), it does seem like a cool remote support tool though. If I needed to go in that direction, I would absolutely take a look at that.

Anyways. LogMeIn is one of my personal favorites when it comes to programs. It functions very well, and I never have any problems with it. What I found interesting about this article that keeps me so enthused is that I own both a pc, and mac. this is revolutionary for me.
Anyways, awesome blog keep up the good work. Perhaps you would be interested in some link exchange as well? Do work!

I like Yugma for remote access. https://www.yugma.com/index.php It is java based so it runs on anything, windows, OSX, Linux. I also like it because they are a Minnesota company. :) The limited feature version is free. -Matt Johnson

There's a remote control solution out there that does not only PC and MAC cross platform remote control but Linux as well. I've been a user of NTR Support for a couple years now and allows me to do so much more versus LogMeIn. check them out at www.ntrglobal.com

I agree with Gerry about the NTRsupport (www.ntrsupport.com) of its easy use and they've had Mac support for years. A part from the remote support solution they have a neat remote access software NTRconnect which I use more for personal purposes. I really do like it a lot, it has Mac support and it's free.

Hey there,
I'm a user of both NTRconnect and NTRsupport (at personal and professional levels). I've been using NTRconnect for years now and a couple of months ago my company decided to leave LogMeIn Rescue for NTRsupport (I did play a part in that decision ;) ) and it has been a beautiful marriage ever since. Two thumbs up.
