How I Decreased my Blog's Bounce Rate by 16.5%

I managed to reduce the bounce rate of a blog I manage by 16.5% by adding one simple plug-in: Related Posts.

For those of you not familiar with the "Bounce Rate" metric, it's a measure of single page visits. People who visit only one page "bounce" away from your site. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, since there may be perfectly acceptable reasons for people to leave after one page view.

An acceptable bounce rate for any site is completely relative, but if your site earns money based on page views, chances are pretty good that a lower bounce rate is better. Also, the more time users spend on your site, the less time they'll have to spend on your competitor's sites.

The following chart shows the bounce rates for a blog I manage on a week by week basis.

I've mentioned the Related Posts plug-in before and how it significantly increased the average page views per visitor on a blog. In a sense, this is simply another way of looking at the same data, since increasing the average page views per visitor beyond one decreases the bounce rate.

I believe in this plugin. However, I need to ask a question. On my site Personal Finance Resources I want to be able to move its position on the page. Can you help me out? I am using wordpress, of course. Thanks.

Jeffry, you should be able to find the code in the file "single.php" and move it to where you'd like.
