An Excellent Podcast: IT Conversations
Ed Kohler

IT Conversations has been cranking out some great content lately, including interview with techies and recorded presentations from conferences. I highly recommend checking it out.

I was catching up on some archived content earlier today and had a chance to listen to a presentation by HarperCollins' Brian Murray who explained how the book publisher is adjusting to changing technology.

Shockingly to me, he explained that HarperCollins had to scan and digitize their own books!

Why oh why wouldn't they digitally store copies of the books they've printed over the years?

Does this happen in other industries? I can't imagine that newspapers or magazines (or any other industry where content is created digitally) are currently hanging on to a print copy - but no digital copies - of the content they produce.
