We launched the Technology Evangelist blog six months ago this past Friday, and have learned a lot about blogging over the past 180+ days. Here are a ten things we learned and/or wish we knew before we started:

Let's face it: Even the best columnists at the New York Times bat somewhere around the Mendoza Line when it comes to delivering newsworthy or thought provoking columns. It's simply impossible to write something remarkable in every column.

You probably know by now that you need to claim and ping your blog to start moving up the Technorati ranks. But what else should you know about this blog search engine?

Now that Technorati is tracking MySpace blogs, we can see what topics MySpace bloggers find interesting. Technorati tracks the terms used on blogs they index, so spikes in word usage this past week - other than caused by news stories - can likely be attributed to the addition of MySpace blogs to Technorati's search engine.

"Technorati
Link Optimization: Getting What You Deserve" that explained how the
Technorati blog search engine uses inbound links to blogs to decide how

site chooses to link to you, you should deserve credit for the link to you
site on blog search engines like Technorati. I figured out a way to optimize
the Technorati ranking of this site by detecting who's linking to the site,
and pinging sites that hadn't already pinged themselves.

Every blogger obsesses about this at some level, including respected bloggers like Steve Rubel, Frank Gruber and blogging newbie, Guy Kawasaki.
