SG106 22mins Flight RC Drone RTF Review
SG 106~ Let me introduce to you the very popular series the SG106. This is an affordable 2-in-1 camera with the 4K video capability, a fantastic underwater recording feature and a simple controls that make it easy to use.
Many have had the SG105 which is a 2-in-1 camera, and it looks and feels like it could be a very beautiful camera. I’m a video user, so I’m not usually one to complain about my camera’s performance. But I would like to see something better.
On the front, the camera has a 2.0MP sensor with 24fps (frames per second) recording to Video at 30fps. This is a fantastic result and is especially impressive in low light. You can see a sample video from the set I was able to record video from 20mp at 4k (effectively 16mp) and low light (effectively 4mp).
So if you are looking for a decent camera for casual use, I would highly recommend getting the SG105. The camera is also compatible with a number of smartphones and tablets, so it’s good to have it on the same page.
Build and Handling
There’s a lot to like about the SG106. It’s large and it weighs in at 8.9g. I’m not a big fan of the protruding 4.7inch display, I know. It might make for some poor viewing angles but I think it is an IPS display. The front has a large 5.5K screen which can’t be too bright and is a disappointment.
The front camera is a 5MP one, just the 2MP one is very good. I love it and I’m sure the camera would make a great addition to any DSLR or mirrorless camera set up.
On the back, the device has a 1.2MP front camera. It is one of the best in its class. It takes great photos with plenty of detail and produces some really nice, crystal clear images.
Portability / Mobility
The best of what I’ve gathered suggests that the SG106 is one of the easiest camera to operate. You just flip it over and it opens up like a door.
This is a rather big camera, and I would have preferred a smaller device to grip on to, although if you have the mini tripod on hand it’s much easier to open it up.
There’s also a 3.5mm audio jack on the bottom. This is a small inclusion, but I’m pleased to report it’s been greatly expanded in recent years.
Access to the MicroSD Card
The MicroSD card is pretty standard. It’s in a slot on the right hand side. You can expand it using a standard MicroSD card. If you need additional space, you can use an additional card to expand it.
The sound comes in the usual SD and SDBC format, which is supported by the Micro HDMI port.
I’ve also checked the audio on a few of the other sides of the camera, and I’m pleased to report it’s OK.
There’s a large 5.5 inch 1080p panel which is bright and in use, more than enough for a casual use of the device. I’ve been able to record some footage from a window in the garden in sunny conditions and it’s bright
Popular in Drones
I love cutting edge, cheap Chinese gadgets - but the constantly fluctuating 'deals' on Gearbest et al drove me crazy. When is a deal not a deal? When it's $50 more than last week!
